by Valerie Garner

Many skin care companies want to believe that there is some big secret behind treating acne, but there isn't. Treating acne isn't some well kept secret that can be treated with one specific product, it's actually a relatively easy process that anyone can do.

The best acne treatment is based on using the right cleansing routine. A good cleansing routine will help clear up acne, but you have to be consistent. By adding acne fighting products to this routine, you will be able to control your acne even better.

The Best Skin Care Routine

The right cleansing routine is not just about how to clear acne. But, by sticking to the right skin care routine you will begin to notice that the overall appearance of your skin will also improve. As a matter of fact, healthy skin will not only make you look better, it will also protect your body from possible infection.

So, let's take a look at the proper skin care routine.

First of all, you should remove your makeup. An oil-free product is a good way to remove makeup. If you prefer you can use duo-phase products that work just as well.

A basic cleansing routine begins with a good cleansing product. If your skin is acne prone, then your cleansing product should be oil-free and contain salicylic acid. It is important that your cleanser have salicylic acid because it can help control sebum production and unclog pores.

Once you've cleansed your skin, use an alcohol-free toner to eliminate any excess debris that may have been left behind. If you have a good cleanser then there may be no need to use a toner, however, if you simply want to refresh your skin then you can still use one.

Finish off with an oil-free moisturizer. A light moisturizer is ideal if you have oily or combination skin. It will absorb quickly and keep your skin from feeling too oily.

For most people, this basic routine is enough to keep their acne under control, however, you can also use an acne cream to treat specific problem areas.

Ingredients that you need to look for

The ingredients that make up your skin care products are important. So when looking for a good acne product make sure that they contain at least salicylic acid, sulfur, or retinol (a derivative of Vitamin A). These ingredients should be found in your cleanser or acne cream.

Salicylic acid has the unique ability to penetrate the pores and help dissolve clogs from the inside. Sulfur helps reduce oiliness and prevents clogged pores, as well. Retinol is excellent for acne and all types of acne problems.

As a matter of fact, Vitamin A has also been known to help modify the abnormal formation of keratin, unclog pores, get rid of acne scars, and reduce the size of your pores. In essence, acne isn't a life threatening skin condition, but if not treated properly it can lead to acne scarring.

Acne causes a variety of different problems like self esteem issues and acne scarring. But by using products that contain natural ingredients, such as snail serum, you can help control acne inflammation and avoid acne scars.
